University Recreation utilizes the following spaces for programming and open recreation, many of the spaces are also available for group reservations.

Learn More About West Gym

The West Gym (occupancy 125) is a multi-purpose room equipped with

  • Basketball court (non-regulation)
  • Volleyball court
  • Access to the men and women’s locker rooms is available on the lower level of the Sports Complex

A wall of the room is lined in mirrors, making it ideal for dance practices or aerobic exercise sessions. To maintain the wooden floors, no street shoes are allowed in the rooms.

Schedule a day of team building on the Challenge Course. Specifically tailored programs can be made for every type of group from student organizations to summer camps.

  • Utilizes high and low elements for team building or leadership development activities
  • Trained leaders work with each group
  • Designed to strengthen your team and inspire confidence in the individual
  • Groups can range from 7 to 60 participants.
  • Programs constructed around time and specific skill building including:

Learn More about Multi-Purpose Room

The Multi-Purpose Room, located in the lower level of the Sports Complex, can accommodate approximately 3,200 people (depending on setup and event type).

 The facility boasts:

  • 200-meter NCAA compliant indoor track
  • Six indoor tennis courts
  • Four basketball courts
  • Six volleyball courts
  • Scoreboards
  • Perimeter curtains to separate the track from inner courts
  • Access to the men and women’s locker rooms is available on the lower level of the Sports Complex

The space is used as an indoor practice facility for many sports when inclement weather occurs. The facility is used extensively for summer volleyball, basketball, and track camps. Many external and internal clubs, including UW-Stout gymnastics team, uses the Multi-Purpose room for summer camps and other large events.

The Health and Fitness Center (occupancy 120) is located in the lower level of the Sports Complex. North Point Fitness (occupancy 75) is located on the north end of campus.

 
With a membershipyou get to use the latest cardio machines, free weights, weight machines, participate in special events, and join group fitness classes.

Learn More About The Tennis Courts

Have a pick-up game of tennis with your friends or schedule a floor tournament for your residence hall. The Sports Complex’s tennis courts are shared with the Blue Devils varsity tennis team and the general public.

 

  • Six tennis courts are located next to the outdoor adventure course on the south of campus
  • Courts are open to the public
  • Lit courts allow for late night playing
Learn More About Johnson Field House

The Johnson Fieldhouse is located on the main floor of the Sports Complex and can host approximately 3,200 people (depending on event setup/type).

The fieldhouse is home to men’s and women’s basketball, gymnastics, volleyball, and several recreational activities. The fieldhouse is equipped with:

  • Two scoreboards
  • One NCAA basketball court
  • Two practice basketball courts
  • Four practice volleyball courts

In order to maintain the quality of the flooring, no street shoes are allowed in the fieldhouse. Access to the men and women’s locker rooms is available on the lower level of the Sports Complex.

Fields are available for intramural and club sport practices as well as any number of events. Reservations of fields are subject to changes due to weather.

  •  Alumni and the Multi-Purpose Field are fully lighted
  • Nelson Field (soccer) is home field of the Blue Devil women’s soccer team
  • All fields are located on the south east end of the Sports Complex
Learn More About The Stadium

Completed in 2001, Don and Nona Williams Stadium is UW-Stout’s main stadium. The multi-use artificial turf field can be used for a variety of intramurals, clubs, competitions, and more. Students and the public are welcome to request use of the space for many event types.

 

  • NCAA Collegiate and NFHS High School football field
  • Two men’s and women’s restrooms
  • Concession stand – manned through University Dining
  • Equipped with sound system and large video-capable scoreboard

The Golf Room is located on the first floor of the sports complex in room 26. This indoor golf room includes a putting green and 3 driving stalls.  To use this room, you must check-in and reserve a room at the Urec office or call ahead to reserve a room at 715-232-1392. Clean shoes are required.

Learn More about the Racquetball Courts

Three racquetball courts (roomes 25, 24, and 23) are located on the first floor of the sports complex. These courts can be used for Racquetball, Dance, and Walleyball. To use these rooms, you must check-in and reserve a room at the Urec office or call ahead to reserve a room at 715-232-1392. Racquets and balls are also available to rent at the Urec office. Clean shoes are required.
