What is STEPS for Girls?

Science, Technology and Engineering Preview Summer (STEPS) at UW-Stout is a five-day summer camp for girls between their 6th and 7th grades in school. STEPS for Girls aims to build confidence in young women by structuring their participation in STEM-related activities. The hands-on activities and the high-energy environment are designed to inspire both confidence and enthusiasm.

Where and When is STEPS for Girls?

There are four five-day sessions scheduled for the summer of 2019. You can find more information about session dates when you fill out the Camper Information Request Form.

Campers will stay in a supervised and secure residence hall at the University of Wisconsin - Stout for the entire camp session. They may also travel to other local sites for recreational activities, such as swimming at the community pool at Wakanda Park, bowling at Broadway Bowl, touring two area-manufacturing companies, and participating in a “Ropes” leadership/problem-solving/teamwork-developing activity at the university challenge course.

Scholarship Opportunities

Full scholarships are available for underrepresented minorities and those who are eligible for free or reduced lunch.
