Graduate Assistantships (GAs) are paid positions at UW-Stout where you also have the opportunity to gain valuable professional experience.
You are eligible for a GA position if you meet all of the following criteria: admitted to a graduate degree program (dual-level and non-degree seeking students are not eligible), enrolled in at least six graduate credits each term, and maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 each term.
GAs do not include a tuition waiver. However, non-resident students who hold at least a 0.33 FTE position are not charged the non-resident portion of tuition.

Position Summary This position assists the full time Instructional Resources Service Staff in providing textbooks and related materials to students/staff both on and off campus. Major responsibilities include customer service, inventory control, resource processing and general office management duties.Job Duties 1. Check items in and out for customers through the online system in Access Stout.2. Provide direct customer service both in person and on the phone.3. Pick up and deliver mail to full time staff in the office.4. Processing, shipping, and packaging resources for distance education students at the beginning of each term.5. Notify students when resources are ready to be picked up, mainly through email but also on the phone.6. Assist with closing duties when working until close.7. Help with training new employees when they are hired.8. Processing new books as they are delivered to the office or picked up in the mail.9. Assist with maintaining inventory in the stacks which includes shifting books, taking out withdrawn books and adding in new texts to the shelves.10. Miscellaneous projects from full time staff.11. Operate the computers along with office equipment (examples: tape gun/dispensers, label making machines, printer/copier and sensitizers) 12. Utilize the online system through Access Stout to manage inventory online, add new books, create barcode labels and look up textbook information for students/staff.Miscellaneous Requirements 1. A non-standard work schedule to meet the circulation needs at both the beginning and end of the semester, which includes increased hours along with extended evening hours.2. The ability to work with various cleaning chemicals (ammonia, isopropyl alcohol, etc.) to clean computers, office, books and stacks area.3. The ability to lift and bend with boxes weighing up to sixty pounds. 4. Ability to work through summer, winter, and other breaks.
