For employers, a lack of diversity in the workplace can have serious consequences. Scientists have found that gender bias can influence the outcome of clinical trials, reduce the advancement of knowledge in various fields, and impede innovation and collaboration. For instance, researchers discovered that lab rats were less stressed in the presence of female researchers. While handled by male researchers, they released a stress hormone which influenced the results of the experiment.
