Attendance Policy

All English Department writing and literature courses are conducted by discussions in which students are expected to speak, listen, and contribute. Therefore, regular attendance is required. Students who miss more than two weeks of class during the semester (e.g. six 55 or four 85 minutes classes) cannot pass the class without providing an adequate explanation for their absence.

Moreover, each student is accountable for all work missed because of absence, and instructors have no obligation to make special arrangements for missed work, although they are free to do so. It is the student's responsibility to report reasons for absence to the instructor and to be in class on time. Final grades may be affected by class attendance and participation and meeting deadlines.
