Quality Counseling. Affordable Cost.

Strong, healthy relationships are the foundation of our community. Since 1974, the UW-Stout Clinical Services Center (CSC) has been strengthening relationships in the Menomonie area by providing quality couple and family therapy services to community members at an affordable cost.

Our therapists are advanced graduate students in one of the oldest and most respected Marriage and Family Therapy programs in the nation. In addition, fully licensed and AAMFT approved supervisors with decades of combined clinical experience provide direct feedback and supervision throughout the counseling process, ensuring that every client receives just the right care for their needs.

Services are provided at an affordable cost without the need for insurance (offered in-person and/or via telehealth), making counseling accessible to the entire community. The Clinical Services Center is open on Mondays from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and Tuesdays from 1:00-8:00 p.m. from September - May. During the summer months, the CSC is open on Mondays only.

Whether you are an individual, a couple, or a family, this highly-effective and affordable team approach makes the Clinical Services Center a place where you can be sure to find compassionate and excellent counseling care to help you face your challenges and meet your goals, whatever they may be.

Clinical Offerings

Play Therapy

Recognizing that children express themselves through play, Play Therapy uses this activity as a medium to communicate their emotions, thoughts, and experiences. Through our services, your child will have the opportunity to collaborate with a counselor-in-training under close faculty supervision, addressing emotional, behavioral, mental, and developmental issues. This not only aids in your child’s growth but also allows our students to refine their Play Therapy skills while contributing to the community.

Filial Therapy

Extending the principles of play therapy, Filial Therapy places additional emphasis on the interaction between the child and their caregiver. Adults initially collaborate closely with a counselor-in-training to acquire and practice specific skills. Subsequently, they integrate these skills into interactions with their child, fostering a deeper and more enriching relationship.

Comprehensive. Low Cost.

The Clinical Services Center provides comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for individuals on campus and in the community. Advanced graduate student clinicians in school psychology work with faculty supervision to conduct a customized assessment aimed at answering questions about learning, attention, and other life functions.

K-12 Learners

Our services are designed to provide answers and information related to academic concerns for K-12 students. Referrals to the clinic include: cognitive, academic, behavioral, social-emotional, adaptive (life skills), social-pragmatic (autism), attention/focus, and processing performance issues.

College and Adult Services

College student and adults returning to post-secondary education may find themselves struggling to learn, focus or adequately function in order to meet life goals, such as continuing education to support a career change. Referrals from college disability service centers are common.

Additional Information

A minimum of three visits (in-person and/or via telehealth) to the Clinical Services Center are typically required to complete a comprehensive psychoeducational assessment. The progress includes an intake interview, customized assessment sessions (cognitive, academic, social-emotional, etc.), and a feedback-exist session to share your report and explain results.

Cost and Scheduling

Services are provided at a low cost without the need for insurance. Psychoeducational evaluations are available on Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays, with services provided September to May (services are not available during the summer).
