Now that you're part of the Stout family, let's make sure you're all set for the next chapter of your educational journey. Here's a guide of what you should do next, organized by timeline for completion:

Let us know you're coming to UW-Stout by accepting your offer of admission.
Set-Up Your UW-Stout Email
Use your Campus ID to activate your account.
Your Campus ID can be found in the initial email or letter sent to you after your application submission.
Join Our Admitted Student Facebook Group

Complete On-Campus Housing
Activate your UW-Stout email for Housing updates. We'll send step-by-step instructions to your UW-Stout email through the Housing Gateway.
Housing Reservation
After setting up your UW-Stout email, you will receive a Life@Stout booklet by email and mail from University Housing. To secure your residence hall space, you will need to sign the contract online and pay a $125 housing prepayment fee. Please note that room selection times are based on contract signing and prepayment date. Signing early means you'll be able to select your room earlier.

Complete Roommate Questionnaire
Check your UW-Stout email for your Housing roommate questionnaire, room preferences, and University Dining Plan selection information. Please follow the directions sent from University Housing to complete this through the Housing Gateway
Room Selection
Check your UW-Stout email for room selection instructions, including roommate details and residence hall assignment. Follow University Housing's directions to find out your room selection date/time and steps to choose and review your room.
Prepare for Move-In Week
Set up your move-in process. You'll select a date and time during move-in week to move into your residence hall and set-up your room.
Finance Your Education
Complete Your FAFSA
Use FAFSA School Code: 003915
Monitor your UW-Stout email for additional communication from Financial Aid (in case you are selected for verification) and for your financial aid award.
Apply for Scholarships
Apply for incoming student scholarships and to the Stout University Foundation Scholarship Application process. Requirements vary.
View Your Tuition Bill
Review your tuition bill when you receive notifications at your UW-Stout email. View tuition due dates and authorize a parent or guest user on your account.
Minnesota Students: Apply for Reciprocity
Apply through the MN Office of Higher Education to be eligible for reduced tuition.
October to November
Starting from October 1, you can complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using the FAFSA School Code: 003915.
Please note that the 2024-2025 FAFSA will not be available until early December 2023 due to a FAFSA redesign.
In mid-October, the Stout University Foundation Scholarship Application becomes available online.
In October and November, we invite you to visit us during daily admissions visits, Campus Preview Days, or Stout Saturdays!
February
- Scholarship deadline for Stout University Foundation scholarships.
- Priority deadline for Blue Devil First-Year Student Scholarship (must be admitted and have a FAFSA on file).
February 15 is the priority deadline for FAFSA to be eligible for financial need-based scholarships through the Stout Foundation Scholarship Application.
March
Check your UW-Stout email for First-Year Registration and Orientation information. Be sure to sign up for your preferred date!
Check your UW-Stout email for your Housing roommate questionnaire, room preferences, and University Dining Plan selection information. Please follow the directions sent from University Housing to complete this through the Housing Gateway
Registration for online UW Placement Testing opens in March. For those starting in Fall 2023, testing registration will open on March 15, 2023. Complete testing at least one week prior to your First-Year Registration & Orientation date.
Minnesota Residents: register for reciprocity.
June to July
Attend your First-Year Registration and Orientation date that you registered for.
Check your UW-Stout email for room selection instructions, including roommate details and residence hall assignment. Follow University Housing's directions to find out your room selection date/time and steps to choose and review your room.
Request final high school transcripts showing your graduation date and have any college/university transcripts sent to the UW-Stout Admissions Office.
August
Set up your move-in process. You'll select a date and time during move-in week to move into your residence hall and set-up your room.
If taking out student loan(s), sign Master Promissory Notes (MPN) online prior to beginning classes (Access Stout).
View your tuition bill in Access Stout (you will receive email notification to your UW-Stout email when your tuition bill is ready to view). View tuition due dates and authorize a parent or guest user on your account.
Move into your residence hall on the day/time you signed up for. You can stay on-campus after your move-in time or leave and return for orientation.

September
Move into your residence hall on your assigned day and time, make friends, and have a blast during Welcome Week!
Classes for Fall 2023 begin Wednesday, September 6.
