Your Next Steps to UW-Stout
Congratulations on your admission to UW-Stout! We're thrilled to welcome you into our vibrant community. Now that you're part of the Stout family, let's make sure you're all set for the next chapter of your educational journey. Here's a guide of what you should do next, organized by timeline for completion:
Upon Acceptance
To set up your UW-Stout email account, you will need your Campus ID. This can be found in the initial email or letter sent to you after submitting your application.

October to November
Starting October 1, you can complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using the FAFSA School Code: 003915.
Please note that the 2024-2025 FAFSA will not be available until early December 2023 due to a FAFSA redesign.
You will receive a Life at Stout booklet in the mail that will include Housing directions. Follow the online process to sign your contract and pay your $125 housing pre-payment fee to hold your residence hall space. Students who sign up before March 1st will receive priority room selection! Text Housing @ 715-232-1121 with questions.
In mid-October, the Stout University Foundation Scholarship Application becomes available online.
In October and November, we invite you to visit us during daily admissions visits, Campus Preview Days, or Stout Saturdays!
February
The first Monday in February is the scholarship deadline for Stout University Foundation Scholarships.
If you applied for Stout University Foundation Scholarships: February 15 is the priority deadline for FAFSA to be eligible for financial need-based scholarships.
March
Portfolio due by midnight March 1 for all Art & Design BFA programs. Check your acceptance letter for information on how to contact the office of Art & Design for further information on submitting your portfolio and essay.
Beginning in March you will receive Registration information, including how to complete your Student Account Contract.
If you signed a Housing contract: Receive your Housing roommate questionnaire, room preferences, and University Dining Plan selection information. Please follow the directions sent from University Housing to complete this through the Housing Gateway. Check your UW-Stout email for this!
March 15 is the priority deadline for FAFSA. Meet this date to ensure your financial aid is ready in the fall.
April
Minnesota residents register for reciprocity. Registration is available online.
Beginning in mid-April, register for classes online.
June to July
The Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship application is due by the second Monday in June.
Final college transcripts are due by the second Monday in June to the Admissions Office by to be considered for the Transfer Student Scholarship.
Financial aid award letters posted to Access Stout in mid-late June.
If you signed a Housing contract: Check your UW-Stout email for your room selection directions, and how to review your roommate information, residence hall assignment, and move-in guide. Please follow directions sent by University Housing to learn your room selection day/time and steps to choose and review your room selection.
In July, parking permit registration begins. Registration is available online.
August
Mid-August view your fall semester billing information in Access Stout (You will receive notification to your UW-Stout email when your tuition bill is ready to view). View tuition due dates and authorize a parent or guest user on your account.
If you signed a Housing contract: Check your UW-Stout email for move-in instructions from University Housing.
If taking out student loan(s), sign Master Promissory Notes (MPN) online prior to beginning classes (Access Stout).
Deadline to submit your official final college transcripts from your prior school to the Admissions Office.
September
Move into your residence hall or house/apartment, make friends, and have a blast during Welcome Week!
Classes for Fall 2023 begin Wednesday, September 6.
