The University of Wisconsin-Stout is a state institution of higher education created pursuant to Chapter 36 of the Wisconsin Statutes. The University of Wisconsin-Stout is governed by the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System and is directed by a chancellor. See Wis. Stat. § 36.09(3).
Requests
The University of Wisconsin-Stout has designated a Custodian of Public Records to meet its obligations under Wisconsin public records laws. Members of the public may obtain information and access to or copies of public records by making a request of the records custodian during regular office hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.:

Costs
UW-Stout may bill requesters $.25 for each copy made, but will not charge reproduction costs for electronic copies of records that exist in electronic format. A location fee may be charged if the cost to locate the record(s) in question is $50.00 or more. Location fees will be calculated at the hourly salary and benefit rate for the lowest-paid employee capable of performing the task. No fee will be charged for the cost of reviewing records for possible redaction or removal of confidential information. Requests which exceed a total cost of $5.00 may require prepayment. All requests will be processed as soon as practicable and without delay.

UW-Stout Police Department Records Requests Costs
With the enactment of Wisconsin Act 253, and specifically citing WI Open Records Statute 19.35(3)(h), an authority that is a law enforcement agency may impose a fee upon a requester for the actual, necessary, and direct cost of redacting, whether by pixelization or other means, recorded audio or video content to the extent redaction is necessary to comply with applicable constitutional, statutory, or common law. This fee may be imposed if the requester has submitted ten (10) or more requests during the same calendar year, and if the requester is an individual or business entity with the intent to use the video for monetary gain (not including moneys awarded in a civil action).
Copies picked up in person: $.25/page
Emailed reports: No charge
Reports mailed: $.25/page plus postage
CDs/DVDs: $5.00 for pick up or $15 to be mailed (must be prepaid)
Requests can be made via phone, email, mail, or in person
- Prepayment will be required if total amount of the request exceeds $5.00
- For processing larger requests, the UW Stout PD may charge actual time for processing. In these instances, the requested will be notified prior to the start of the request and a deposit or full payment may be required.
- Records may take up to 10 business days to be processed. If longer, the records department will reach out to the individual requester.
