Our high-impact Lean Certificate training is offered through a partnership with the UW-Stout Manufacturing Outreach Center (MOC), headquartered at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, and Chippewa Valley Technical College. MOC experts in lean manufacturing come to the classroom to deliver targeted training with real-world application.

MOC's expertise and hands-on experience working with manufacturers around WI will provide you with answers and solutions that you can immediately put into practice. On the shop floor and in office environments, lean manufacturing is changing businesses around the world through techniques that translate directly into bottom line profits. It is not uncommon for manufacturers to save $10,000 to $100,000 or more by implementing simple lean manufacturing techniques.

The Lean Certificate Series is designed for individuals charged with leading the implementation of lean within their organization, resident experts, or those advancing within the organization.

Obtaining Your Lean Certificate

To earn a UW-Stout Lean Certificate, individuals must first understand the cornerstone principles of lean by completing five full-day workshops that include hands-on simulations and individual project mentoring by an UW-Stout MOC project manager. Following these initial sessions, mentors will help individuals coordinate an on-site lean project. In the final, sixth session, each project is presented to peers and lean experts to gain valuable feedback and insights for future lean implementation at their business. Individuals who earn a lean Certificate have demonstrated the ability to employ applied knowledge to real-world situations and are ready to lead their company through ongoing improvements that directly affect the bottom line.

What Are Other's Saying About the Program?

I have attended a multitude of classes around Lean Manufacturing and its predecessors and have found this to be the best I have attended in my career. I do believe the instructors and their passion for the information were the real difference between this class and classes I have attended in the past. I spent the previous 30 years adding inventory and WIP to try and avoid late deliveries to customers, but within this course I found that I was using that added inventory to hide other manufacturing issues (i.e. equipment downtime, training levels of operators, etc.). Along with that I truly learned the effect that communication has in regard to developing a lean culture and how we can positively impact that. This, along with an array of smaller, but no less important, practices I learned thru this class have revived my excitement around the lean manufacturing process and have me confident that I can (and will) have a large impact on our profit line using the ideas learned from these classes.
