Testing

Currently, there are no plans to offer COVID-19 testing on campus; however, most insurance companies are offering reimbursement for home tests. Students are strongly encouraged to bring home antigen tests with them to campus this fall. Employees can order tests from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

Additionally, a limited number of COVID-19 home tests are available through University Housing for residential students and to off-campus students and employees in the Dean of Students office. Employees are limited to one box (2 tests) per visit. The Dean of Students Office is at 130 Bowman Hall.

There are a variety of resources for testing in the community

  • Schedule a test at Walgreens.com or CVS.com
  • If you are a student and need to see a health care provider, Student Health Services, operated by Prevea Health is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 am-4:30 pm. Call 715-232-1314 for an appointment.
  • Faculty or staff should consult their primary care doctor for COVID-related questions or health concerns.

Isolation Guidance

If you are experiencing symptoms or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid, please take an at-home test. Community members who test positive for COVID-19 should not go to class and/or work. You should inform your instructors and/or employer or supervisor and follow the current CDC recommendations for isolation.

  • Residence hall students who test positive are encouraged to go home for their isolation period. Residence hall students will receive a separate communication from university housing regarding COVID-19 precautions if they are not able to go home and need to isolate in their room.
  • Off-campus students who test positive are encouraged to either go home for their isolation period or separate as much as possible from roommates in the off-campus residence.
  • Faculty and staff who test positive should inform their supervisor and follow the current CDC recommendations for isolation.

Vaccinations

UW-Stout community members are encouraged to remain up to date on COVID-19 vaccines and eligible boosters.

Masking

There is no campus masking requirement. The CDC continues to recommend wearing a mask for ten days after a positive test or when the local transmission level is high. The decision to wear a mask is a personal one. No one should face repercussions for their personal decision to mask or not mask.

  • N95/KN95 Masks: We will continue to provide well-fitting masks to students and employees who request them. These masks may be requested online using the PPE Requsition Form. Masks will also continue to be required in Student Health Services.
