UW-Stout has been a leader in interdisciplinary research, policy, and practice related to water quality in the Red Cedar Watershed, an 1,893 square-mile area in west-central Wisconsin that is an EPA-designated impaired waterway and includes the UW-Stout campus. Exemplifying the tenets of our polytechnic mission (applied learning, career focus, and collaboration), UW-Stout's work engages faculty, students, and the community to provide learning opportunities to students and knowledge to key stakeholders determined to address water quality issues.
