Next Steps for Special, Non-Degree Seeking Students
In this Section

Congratulations! Welcome to UW-Stout!

We're so excited to welcome you to the Stout community. We know you might only be taking a few courses with us, but know that while here, you're not only a student but a member of our vibrant campus culture.

If you have any questions or encounter any difficulties during enrollment, please contact the Registration & Records Office.

Your Next Steps

Step 1: Activate Your UW-Stout Microsoft Account

The first step is to activate your UW-Stout Microsoft account (or reset your password, if necessary). Your Microsoft account will provide access to several essential applications.

Step 2: Log in to your University Email

Students must use their UW-Stout email for all campus communication. Online course instruction, tuition billing information and other campus messages will be available only through this email account.

  1. Visit myapps.uwstout.edu or navigate to the Login page (upper right corner of uwstout.edu)
  2. Log in using your credentials. Remember, your email address is formatted username@my.uwstout.edu

Pro Tip: Add the Outlook mobile app to your phone or mobile device for easy access to your inbox! Find out how.

Step 3: View your Enrollment Date & Time and Search for Classes

You are not able to register until your assigned enrollment date & time. You can find your enrollment date & time and search for class in Access Stout.  Access Stout is an online program that allows students to access their student record. Using this service, you can search and register for classes, view your class schedule, check for holds and to do items, view your required textbooks, access your final semester grades, etc.

To search for courses without logging into Access Stout, use this Class Search.

Step 4: Complete Student Account Contract (SAC)

Before you can register, you must complete the Student Account Contract (SAC) in Access Stout. (This step is required for Fall and Spring terms but not for Winterm or Summer enrollment). Once completed, a pop-up message will be displayed saying the contract is complete and you may now register for the term.  If you have any difficulty with the SAC, please contact Student Business Services directly for assistance at sbservices@uwstout.edu or 715-232-1656

Step 5: Enroll in Classes

Once you have activated your UW-Stout Microsoft account and completed your SAC, you may enroll yourself into the course(s) via Access Stout.

Course Prerequisites: If you wish to take a course that has a prerequisite requirement, you will need to provide the course instructor an unofficial transcript or exam score (AP or CLEP) or get instructor permission to override a prerequisite. Once you receive this permission from the course instructor, email it to registrar@uwstout.edu

Double check after you have completed the process that you are fully enrolled (that the classes have been moved from your shopping cart, you’ve finished enrolling and you received a message of SUCCESS with a green check mark).
