The UW-Sprout Campus Garden and University Dining operations are working to incorporate sustainable food into our campus.

UW-Sprout LogoThe UW-Sprout Campus Garden is a 1/5 acre market garden for students, faculty, and staff to grow food and cultivate community. At the garden, you can plant, tend to, and harvest a wide variety of sustainably grown vegetables, fruits, and herbs.

Our staff of students and volunteers grow produce for the UW-Sprout CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program, selling produce shares to UW-Stout students and employees. We also grow food for the local food pantry.

Garden volunteersVolunteer for Veggies Program

UW-Sprout offers the Volunteer for Veggies program for any students, faculty, or staff interested in volunteering in the garden. Volunteers learn valuable skills in growing sustainable food, as well as meet new people with shared interests in gardening and local food.

How It Works:

  • Volunteers help in the garden for at least 3 hours/week and receive free available produce for that week.
  • Volunteers can help for as many weeks as they'd like. There is no requirement to volunteer all season.
  • Volunteers do lots of different tasks like planting, weeding, mulching, watering, harvesting, and having fun in the outdoors.

The UW-Sprout CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program is a partnership between CSA members and UW-Sprout Campus Garden. CSA members pay for a seasons’ worth of produce and UW-Sprout delivers shares of fresh, sustainably grown produce each week by bike.

UW-Sprout sells CSA shares to current students, faculty, and staff of UW-Stout. Each season, we accept new members.
