The Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP) is the premier national accreditation agency for graduate programs in the counseling field:
- It is the recognized training standard for counselors by the Institute of Medicine and the Veteran’s Administration.
- It promotes counselor professional identity.
- Its curricula content areas are the required academic training for counselor licensure in most states making CACREP-accreditation a pathway to portability.
