Please, direct GPS Program questions to Career Services: careerservices@uwstout.edu.Position Title: MentorLink Student Worker Department: Advisement Center Position Summary: The MentorLink Student Worker plays a vital role in supporting and enhancing the academic and personal success of fellow students through our MentorLink mentorship program. Working under the supervision of the MentorLink Coordinator, the student worker will assist in organizing and executing mentorship activities, providing academic support, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment for mentees. Key Responsibilities: Mentorship: Provide one-on-one and group mentoring to assigned mentees, offering guidance on academic goals, study strategies, time management, and campus resources. Program Coordination: Assist in planning, organizing, and promoting peer mentorship activities, workshops, and events throughout the academic year. Training and Development: Attend and actively participate in training sessions, workshops, and meetings to enhance mentoring skills, cultural competency, and professional development. Support Services: Collaborate with academic advisors, tutors, and other campus support services to ensure mentees receive comprehensive academic and personal support. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of mentorship sessions, progress reports, and attendance records for program evaluation and reporting purposes. Outreach and Recruitment: Participate in outreach efforts to recruit new mentees and mentors, including campus events, social media campaigns, and informational sessions. Qualifications: Current Student: Enrolled as a full-time student in good academic standing at the institution. (freshman, sophomore, or new transfer student)Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage diverse student populations. Leadership Abilities: Demonstrated leadership skills, empathy, and a passion for helping others succeed. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills to balance academic responsibilities and program duties effectively. Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with peers, program coordinators, and campus partners to achieve program goals. Knowledge of Resources: Familiarity with campus resources, academic policies, and support services preferred. Previous Mentoring Experience: Prior experience as a mentor, tutor, or in a similar role is desirable but not required. Work Schedule: Flexible, approximately 5-10 hours per week during the academic year, with occasional evening commitments for events and workshops. Duties includemonitoring the psychology department front deskgreeting and directing department visitors (phone and in-person)completing and complying with university and departmental cleaning proceduresmonitoring and restocking department supply inventory (e.g., periodically checking and restocking printer paper supply)running errands for the department. Other relevant tasks in support of the department may be assigned as needed. These duties are supervised by the Academic Department Assistant and the Department Chair. Work hours will fall during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) and will be coordinated with the course schedule of the student hired for the position.
