Career and Internship Information

Career Information

UW-Stout's Career Services office utilizes Stout CareerLink -- a comprehensive web-based database management tool which provides expanded and efficient services to students and alumni. Upon registering with career services, students and alumni will have access to cutting edge job search software, listings of available jobs, access to on-campus employer events and can choose to be automatically notified about jobs in specific geographic regions. To register as student or alumni, go to CareerLink, and select the "first time user" link. Upon repeat visits, reentry with password will obtain immediate access.

In addition, counselors offer individualized assistance with a variety of career concerns including: cover letters, resumes, interviewing skills, workplace etiquette and job search techniques. Career Services is a great place to visit for all of your career needs, from personalized assistance in locating internships and co-ops; to information on full-time positions as you approach graduation. Utilizing this service will greatly benefit you not only while you are a student at UW-Stout, but also as an alum!

Internships

Internships are an excellent way to enhance your educational opportunities, and internship credits can be applied to your master's program with approval of program director. Information about co-ops/internships and about requirements for the internship reports and internship advisors are found on their Career Services website. Once an internship is found, contact internship advisor, sign up for the internship credit (FN-749 in the advisor's appropriate section) and attend the internship meeting. Note: international graduate students can complete an internship at any time and are not restricted to the nine-month residency required of undergrads.

Job Announcements

Please note that as we become aware of jobs through our various contacts, the faculty of the Food and Nutrition Department will e-mail the announcements to students in the program and to our graduates. The careful cooperation between our department and career services ensures that our students have access to the most comprehensive career advice and answers to any career question.
