"The Event Certificate addition to the Hospitality Management degree is an elevated opportunity that allows students to diversify their knowledge and passion for the hospitality and events industry. The event courses offered at UW-Stout allows for a hands-on experience that shows students how to plan mock-events with a tailored set of tools to help them learn and grow.

The courses target real-world experience, whether students decide to focus their skills on the supplier or planner side of the industry. Whether students desire to plan large or small meetings and events, corporate or social gatherings, or have a passion to work for a non-profit organization or for-profit venue, students will hone in on their skills and work on their areas of opportunities through the courses offered.

With the success of the polytechnic courses offered and the volunteer involvement opportunities on campus, there’s no wonder the Hospitality Management program has a 97% employment rating."

"I highly recommend the Event and Meeting Management Certificate Program through the UW Stout HRTM Program. The classes in the certificate program provided me with valuable organizational and process planning skills applicable to my current job as an Event Specialist. Looking back, I now realize that the Convention and Meeting Management semester-long project prepared me to think on my toes during my job now.

The curveballs that were thrown at me and my group during that project didn’t only teach at that moment but aided in teaching how to problem solve in a way that no textbook ever could. The courses also do a wonderful job of exposing you to real-world software and documents like floor planning software and BEOs. If not for these courses, I wouldn’t have had as much of a jump start on knowing how to interpret and use software features before starting work in the industry. If you’re interested in Events and Meeting Management and are considering taking the certificate program, I would certainly recommend it."
