Position Summary:The LTS Student Tech is responsible for assisting with technical classrooms and labs on the UW-Stout campus. The Intern will install, configure, maintain, and update a variety of technical equipment, including processors, computers, touch panels, and switchers. Most of the equipment is network-based and configured using software such as Crestron Toolbox and Fusion, as well as tools like Excel, WinZip and EMS. The student will work with students, faculty, and staff, helping in person, on Teams, and via email. Responsibilities:Install, configure, maintain, and update technical equipment, including processors, computers, touch panels, and switchers.Troubleshoot and solve technical problems that arise with labs and classrooms, as well as student, faculty, and staff computers and other technical equipment.Communicate with full-time staff and other departments through job tickets and other forms of communication.Document customer service and technical problems and resolutions through the KB database and job tickets.Learn communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.Possess the ability to troubleshoot complex problems and learn technical and procedural systems quickly.Team with staff in the Network and Computer Technicians departments to learn about network VLANs and DHCP systems, as well as computer software. Qualifications:Must be a current student at UW-StoutPossess a strong interest in technology and technical support.Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to work independently and as part of a team.Must have experience with Microsoft Office SuiteKnowledge of network VLANs and DHCP systems, as well as computer software, is preferred. Working Conditions:Work is performed in a technical classrooms and labs, and an office environment.Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.Work hours may vary depending on the needs of the department and may include evenings and weekends.This position offers a great opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the technical support field while learning from experienced professionals.
