At the Child and Family Study Center, lab assistants complete work to support the classroom teachers in meeting NAEYC accreditation and licensing standards for center programming. Work includes helping to prep materials and teaching tools used by classroom teaching staff in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Students in this position will learn more fully the instructional responsibilities of a classroom teacher and be instrumental in supporting the work to establish positive, collaborative, and creative environments for children to learn. This position gives students an early hands-on experience in the field of Early Childhood Education. The lab assistant positions are scheduled for approximately 6 hrs./wk. working around a student’s class schedule. Additional hours can be planned as needed/desired. We schedule a lab assistant for each center site, Heritage Hall Infant-Toddler lab and the Child and Family Study Center preschool site.
