Vicki Zylstra teaches Effective Classroom Management Strategies.

Vicki Zylstra is a high school computer/technology instructor at Sibley-Ocheyedan High School in Sibley, Iowa. She teaches courses in computer applications, advanced computer applications, Web Design I and II, and computer graphics. Vicki is also the technology trainer for teachers in her district.

During the past several years Vicki has been instrumental in training teachers in use of new software, Smart Boards, Student Response Systems, web page design, use of Web 2.0 tools in the classroom, and most recently preparing teachers for the one-to-one initiative that starts in the fall of 2010. She has also taught staff development computer and technology courses for Northwest Area Education Agency as well as led many inservice technology training sessions in the Sibley-Ocheyedan School District.

Vicki received her B.A. degree from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa and her Master of Science degree in Business Education from Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minnesota. She has taught at Sibley-Ocheyedan for 27 years.

Vicki’s expertise in classroom management has been developed through many years of teaching students of every age as well as teachers. She enjoys the challenge of improving organization, procedures, and climate in the classroom; researching teaching and learning styles; as well as developing new assessment tools. With the implementation of these management tools over the years, Vicki has developed an exemplary classroom management style.

Vicki lives with her husband on an acreage. They have two college-age children and one in high school. Her hobbies include reading, cooking, playing the piano, and spending time at the lake with her family.
