Jane MacKenzie (formerly Smith) has been in the instructional design field for over 25 years.  She has written, designed, and produced training for instructor-led classes, e-Learning, and audio training for corporations.  She has a Certified Performance Technologist (CPT) designation from ISPI and is a Fellow in the Society for Technical Communicators (STC).

In 1997, she was the designer and project leader for an e-Learning course that won a gold award in the 1998 Internet and Multimedia Training Contest sponsored by Brandon Hall. Since then she has designed and/or developed e-Learning tutorials for proprietary software, new-hire orientation, technical support, customer service, order processing, biotech processes, and financial advising, to name a few.

She also consulted with a well-known financial products company and a telecommunications training company to facilitate their e-Learning initiatives.  She trained and mentored staff, managed projects, developed or modified processes, consulted on interface design, and facilitated more effective communication between designers and developers.

For three years, she facilitated instructional design courses for classroom training and e-Learning at Clark Training and Consulting.  Since then, she has been a popular facilitator of highly interactive and engaging workshops for professional organizations and corporations through her own company.  In 2004, she facilitated a five-day e-Learning Development course for the Vietnamese Post and Telecommunications and Training Center in Hanoi, Vietnam.  Because she has also facilitated quality management courses, she brings an aspect of quality improvement to all projects and training.

During her career, she has worked for many clients, including: Boston Scientific, Ameriprise Financial, Deluxe Financial Corporation, Telecommunications Research Associates (TRA), Lifemark, Alliant Foodservice, Learning-Edge, Xantel Corporation, Pennzoil, Cincinnati Bell Information Systems, Allied Van Lines, One-on-One Training, and many others.

In addition, she taught at the secondary level for six years and the community college level for 15 years.

Her education credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology-History from Scripps College and a Master of Arts in Teaching Social Studies from the University of Illinois.
