James L. Erbe (Jim) teaches Assessment for E-learning.
Jim is the retired chairman of the language arts department at Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, having taught for thirty-two years in the district. He also served for three years as the district's coordinator of fine and performing arts, for which he was cited by the Iowa Arts Council.
Jim received his Bachelor of Science degree from Bowling Green State University, majoring in English and speech, and his M.A. in School Administration (Curriculum Development) from the University of Iowa. He received a Blue Web'n Award for his web site, Trekking to Troy.
Before discovering the computer, Jim's creative outlet was designing for the theater. His designs have appeared from the Maine State Music Theater to the University of Alaska - Fairbanks, where he and his wife taught for three summers at the Summer Fine Arts Camp. This involvement in theater has definitely been an asset in dealing with visual design on the computer.
Jim has been a member of the Professional Development faculty since 1998. His students have received numerous awards and recognitions for their websites.
In 2008 Jim and his wife moved to the Orlando, Florida, area to be closer to their twin grandsons (and the boys' parents). It also moved them closer to Walt Disney World, where they enjoy walking and dining through the various theme parks. Jim is an avid gardener, replacing his Iowa corn crop with sabal palms and banana trees. He has enjoyed mixed success at this venture, but he really gets into web page design, and he loves teaching online.
