Brief Biography: Renee is passionate about teaching, writing, and online learning. She has over 30 years of experience in classroom teaching and is an advocate for educational technology and distance learning. She has been using 6 Traits of Writing for over a decade and finds that this model consistently enhances writing instruction, identifies qualities of good writing, and deepens feedback. She also has presented teacher training and parent talks on this topic. Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Renee has her Masters degree in special education through University of the Pacific and an Educational Leadership Certificate through Buffalo State University. Before coming to Dubai, she taught in Japan, California, and Oregon. In her ‘spare’ time she has coordinated five student volunteer groups for International Habitat for Humanity and has traveled to over 80 countries.
Teaching Interests: Currently, she is a Technology Integration Coach at the American School of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this multi-faceted job she works with hundreds of students as well as other teachers in designing meaningful ways to link the ever-changing technologies to the curriculum.

Professional Interests: Renee completed her E-Learning and Online Teaching Graduate Certificate through University of Wisconsin Stout. She is also a Google Certified Teacher (New York 2012) and a Google Apps Certified Trainer. She regularly presents at various conferences around the world including the first Google Teacher Summit in Santa Clara, California, Bangkok's NESA (Near East South Asia) conference, and the Middle East’s first Google Summit in Dubai. She is also a charter member of Tokyo’s chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, a member of Computer-Using Educators, and has taught courses in educational assessment for Seattle University. For four years, she coordinated her school’s accreditation process through Middle States Association.
