Thirteen students named Stout Ambassadors for 2018-2019

Their duties include homecoming, alumni events, career conferences

University of Wisconsin-Stout has named 13 students as Stout Ambassadors for the 2018-2019 academic year.

The ambassadors program, in its third year, gives students opportunities to engage with alumni, corporations and campus leadership. Ambassadors are required to represent the student body by attending homecoming events, many alumni events and two campus Career Conferences. They also have a special breakfast as a group with the chancellor during the year.

UW-Stout homecoming is Saturday, Oct. 6. The ambassadors will kick off their year Saturday morning by helping welcome alumni back to campus and walking with the chancellor’s unit in the parade, which begins at 11 a.m.

  • Afton Fischer, of Menomonie, family and consumer sciences education

  • Jack Hoaby, of Maple Lake, Minn., applied science             
  • Jordyn Horvath, of Zimmerman, Minn., applied social science
  • Tiffany Johnson, of Suring, criminal justice and rehabilitation          
  • Kyle Lindberg, of Eden Prairie, Minn., hotel, restaurant and tourism management
  • Nate Merrill, of Oshkosh, psychology      
  • Natasha Rassbach, of Downing, early childhood education
  • Emily Robida, of Hudson, human development and family studies               
  • Xena VanDusartz, of Hammond, applied mathematics and computer science  
  • Jessica Weber, of Milwaukee, applied mathematics and computer science                
  • Samantha Ziwicki, of Clearwater, Minn., golf enterprise management

Weber and Lindberg were chosen for the third straight year; Horvath, Farwell and VanDusartz were chosen for the second straight year.

In addition to representing 10 academic majors, the ambassadors have been involved in a variety of student organizations and activities. They include: Stout Student Association, athletics, fraternities and sororities, University Housing and Menomonie city government.

The ambassadors program is a collaborative project with the Involvement Center and the Alumni Association.

To become ambassadors, students had to fill out an application and be interviewed. Criteria for eligibility includes having a grade-point average of at least 3.0, taking at least six class credits and being available for mandatory events. Applicants also must answer three essay questions and provide a resume.
