Getting Around Stout and the Menomonie Area

Helping your student find their way around if they don't have a car.
October 22, 2019

We offer a number of sustainable transportation programs to help your student get around campus and Menomonie.

Your student has free access to the StoutRoute Campus Bus. The campus bus makes three stops on its route, with an optional stop at Student Health (for when your student might need a little TLC). And the Community Bus offers four stops on campus. The community bus route covers the Menomonie community, and its stops include the grocery store, the hospital, and Wal-Mart.

If your student prefers to bike, they can check out our StoutBikes Bike Share program.

And when your student wants to go home for the weekend or during a break period, we have options for that too!

UW-Stout Rideshare

UW-Stout Rideshare is a user-friendly online app. Students can look for rides with (or offer rides to) other students.

Your student also has a number of regional bus options, and they can book their ticket online:

  • Badger Bus offers weekend service to Eau Claire, Madison, and Milwaukee. Your student can catch the bus right outside the Memorial Student Center.
  • Jefferson Lines offers daily service to Minneapolis. Your student can catch the bus right outside the Memorial Student Center.
  • Chippewa Valley Airport Service and Groome Transportation offer service to the MSP airport multiple times each day. Your student will need to catch these shuttles off-campus.
