Equity, social justice issues focus of diversity speaker Feb. 16

UW-Stout’s 2017-18 Diversity Speaker Series continues with a presentation on equity and social justice at 1:25 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, in room 210 of the Applied Arts Building.

Heather HackmanHeather Hackman, founder of Hackman Consulting Group of Minneapolis, will speak on “A Deeper Dive Into Equity and Social Justice Work: Exploring its Cross-campus Connections and Applications.”

The presentation will be from 1:25 to 2:25 p.m., followed by discussion from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Hackman Consulting, founded in 2005 by Hackman, is devoted to helping people, organizations, communities and society address deep diversity, equity and social justice issues.

She previously taught full time for 12 years at St. Cloud State University and has taught in Minnesota at Hamline University and University of St. Thomas. She has a Ph.D. in social justice from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

The Diversity Speaker Series is sponsored by the Nakatani Teaching and Learning Center, with financial support from the Chancellor’s Office.
