Sam Kalda is a lecturer in foundations and illustration at UW Stout's School of Art & Design. He received his B.F.A in painting from SUNY Purchase College and his M.F.A in illustration from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in NYC. He also was an Ellen Battell Stoeckel fellow at the Yale Norfolk Summer School of Art in Connecticut.
A practicing professional illustrator for 15 years, his commissioned work includes editorial, book and surface design illustration for clients like The New York Times, Penguin Random House, The New Yorker, Warby Parker and Facebook. He's illustrated 10 books for children and adults alike and is the recipient of a gold medal in book illustration from The Society of Illustrators, NY.
