School of Art and Design

Artists and designers are crucial members of a civilized society. They create new ways to see the world around us. They see potential in ideas and raw materials - and follow their vision to complete a masterwork. These processes take time for the final piece to emerge, but when it does, something outstanding is made.

School of Art and Design

Like our creations, our development as a unit has taken time to evolve. Many hands have built it, piece by piece, and have contributed to our growth. And now it is time to emerge: to unleash the creative culmination of countless years of hard work by many valued colleagues, students and friends.

By forming a School of Art and Design, we use the strong foundations of our past to embrace the challenges of the future. To better serve our student population, the School will be comprised of two separate but interconnected departments: the Department of Art and Art History and the Department of Design.

Department of Art and Art History

Dedicated to excellence, the Department of Art and Art History is responsible for the foundational courses that all students need to gain the skills and historic knowledge needed so they can master both the fine arts and the design disciplines. Art metals, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics and art history are housed within this department.

Department of Design

Pushing the cutting edge, the Department of Design includes concentrations in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design and Multimedia Design. These intensive courses of study shape students into future leaders in their chosen field by giving them the expertise necessary to outshine the competition.
