Quality Counseling, Affordable Cost

Strong, healthy relationships are the foundation of our community.  Since 1974, the UW-Stout Clinical Services Center (CSC) has been strengthening relationships in the Menomonie area by providing quality couple and family therapy services to community members at an affordable cost.

Our community outreach offers quality clinical and assessment services provided by advanced graduate students in the Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and School Psychology Programs at UW-Stout.  In addition, fully licensed supervisors and AAMFT approved supervisors with decades of combined clinical experience provide direct feedback and supervision throughout the counseling process, ensuring that every client receives ethical care to meet their needs.

Clinical Offerings

Play Therapy & Filial Therapy

Play is the foundational way in which children develop, express themselves, and make sense of the world.  Through play therapy, you and your child will collaborate with a counselor-in-training and their supervisor to address emotional, behavioral, mental, and developmental concerns.

If you are so inclined, during the summer term, you and your child can extend the principles of play therapy by participating in Filial Therapy.  Filial Therapy emphasizes interaction between the child and their caregiver. Adults initially collaborate closely with a counselor-in-training to acquire and practice specific skills. Subsequently, they integrate these skills into interactions with their child, fostering a deeper and more enriching relationship.

Both Play Therapy and Filial Therapy are provided free to the community.  In the Fall and Spring terms, Play Therapy is scheduled at times between you and your assigned graduate student.  In the Summer term, Play Therapy and Filial Therapy are offered Thursdays 12:30-4:00 p.m.

Please contact Dr. Andy Felton PhD, LPC, RPT-S, ADS with any questions you may have at 715-232-2233 or feltonan@uwstout.edu

Psychoeducational Evaluation

The Clinical Services Center provides comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for individuals on campus and in the community. Advanced graduate student clinicians in school psychology work with faculty supervision to conduct a customized assessment aimed at answering questions about learning, attention, and other life functions.

K-12 Learners
Our services are designed to provide answers and information related to academic concerns for K-12 students. Referrals to the clinic include: cognitive, academic, behavioral, social-emotional, adaptive (life skills), social-pragmatic (autism), attention/focus, and processing performance issues.

College & Adult Services
College students and adults returning to post-secondary education may find themselves struggling to learn, focus or adequately function in order to meet life goals, such as continuing education to support a career change. Referrals from college disability service centers are common.

Additional Information
A minimum of three visits (in-person and/or via telehealth) to the Clinical Services Center are typically required to complete a comprehensive psychoeducational assessment. The progress includes an intake interview, customized assessment sessions (cognitive, academic, social-emotional, etc.), and a feedback-exist session to share your report and explain the results.

Cost & Scheduling
Services are provided at a low cost without the need for insurance. Psychoeducational evaluations are available on Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays, with services provided September to May (services are not available during the summer).
