Process Lab

The School of Art and Design Process Lab is an open area designated for use by any art and design students who are performing work on class related projects. The lab is equipped with a variety of woodworking power tools, metal cutting and welding equipment, a milling machine, a vacuum forming machine, a metal lathe, and a large spray painting booth. There is also a tool crib with a large assortment of powered and manual hand tools available.

To ensure safety, this facility is supervised during all open hours by either the Lab Supervisor or Lab Assistants. Before using the Art and Design Process Lab, all students are required to attend a lab safety training orientation session. Upon completion of the first level of safety training, each student is issued a color-coded ID tag. Upper training levels are given as the student progresses through upper level classes, which is indicated by appropriately color-coded tags. These tags help ensure that only properly trained students are allowed access to machinery. In addition, students are required to use their UW-Stout ID card to check out any needed tools.
