The UW-Stout Dietetic Internship prepares you for entry-level practice as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). We provide a wide variety of experiences in community nutrition, food service management, and clinical nutrition. 

  • Meet your fellow interns at orientation in August.
  • Begin your supervised practice at community and public health locations. We send our interns to Aging and Disability Resource Centers, UW Extension, Women Infant and Children, and more! 
  • Develop important food service management skills by working with preceptors in both school and hospital food settings.
  • Emphasis on patient-centered care in clinical nutrition rotations, including long-term care, outpatient, and inpatient settings.
  • Refine your skills during a 1-week rotation choosing your location and area of emphasis.

  • Our ACEND-accredited internship program, established in 1991, is recognized for excellence in developing industry-ready dietitians. 
  • Our program guides students through an RDN exam preparation tool, which includes simulated testing, preparing you to pass the registration exam.
  • Our program offers innovative, supervised practice led by expert preceptors and faculty mentors who are responsive to your needs.
  • Regular seminar meetings with the internship coordinator and fellow interns helps you stay on track and make progress toward your goals.
  • The program supports attendance at our state dietetics meeting, providing the opportunity to enhance your professional development and networking skills.
  • If you need to complete your master’s degree UW-Stout offers a fully online M.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics.
