It is with pride that I welcome you to the School If you are a caring and hard working person committed to nurturing the growth of learners, I hope you will consider beginning or advancing your career in education at UW-Stout. Whether you are looking to begin an undergraduate degree, transfer into a program, add-on a certification, or earn an advanced degree in education, we can help you meet your goal. We offer a variety of teaching, pupil service, and advanced education degrees and certifications. It is our mission to provide student-centered exemplary teaching, research, and service to ensure that graduates of the School become successful and effective leaders and educators in their chosen professional discipline. Consistent with our vision of preparing reflective practitioners, all of our programs focus on the philosophy that students learn best when engaged in applied learning opportunities. Consistent with our designation as Wisconsin’s polytechnic university, SOE offers career-focused programs; applies scientific theory and research to real-world problems; contributes to the growth of the economy; and serves society. Our faculty members model the belief that there are few things in our society more important and few careers more rewarding, than helping learners reach their full potential. The placement rate of graduates of our education programs is consistently higher than 93%. While most of our graduates are employed in Wisconsin and Minnesota, alumni are working in many other states including Alaska and Hawaii, and overseas. Thank you for visiting the UW-Stout SOE web site. We appreciate your interest and invite you to contact us at schoolofeducation@uwstout.edu or arrange a campus visit. Mary Hopkins-Best |
