  • financial literacy (college budget planning, assistance in filling out the FAFSA, etc.)

Algebra Course Preparation Workshops

  • Are you taking an algebra course (i.e. Math 010, 110, 118, or 120) next semester?
  • Want help preparing for the skills that you will need to be successful in the course? 
  • The workshop is set up so that you spend your own time reviewing materials that prepare you for the course.Nick will walk you through a few online websites which will guide you through your course preparation.If you have questions while going through the material, Nick will be available for assistance.

Essay Paper vs Essay Exam Workshop

  • Review structure, see examples, ask questions, and pick up some tips for making your writing clear, concise, and interesting.
  • Learn the difference between the structure of an essay paper and an essay test
  • Learn how to make a plan for writing
  • Learn how to make the paper long enough
  • Learn helpful strategies for the PPST/CORE writing component
  • Review in time for tests, end of the semester papers and applications.

PPST & CORE Test Preparation

By 1-on-1 Appointment

To receive admission into the School of Education at UW-Stout, you must first pass either the PPST (if you have taken it before) or the CORE (recommended generally after February 2014). This all-inclusive ongoing workshop will cover: 

  • finding your way around the Praxis website
  • test format options
  • state requirements for passing
  • fees
  • how to register for the test
  • resources to help you prepare for the test

Statistic Course Preparation Workshops

Statistics is a required course for many majors here at UW-Stout. If you are taking statistics in the Summer or Fall 2014, this will be a beneficial workshop for you. The workshop, intended for students who have never taken statistics before, will cover; a review of material your professor expects you to know before entering statistics, an overview of what to expect in the course, tips to reduce anxiety and special stats study skills.
