Technology education majors can take several professional courses to enhance their teaching credentials. These courses are taken above and beyond the basic technology education program to meet special DPI teacher certification requirements.

To obtain a K-12 teaching certificate, in contrast to a 6-12 teaching certificate, you need to take TECED-325: Technology for Elementary Children (2 credits).

If you have 2,000 hours of work experience in a specific trade and would like to teach vocational education courses related to that trade, you need to take CTE-302: Principles of Career and Technical Education (2 credits) and CTE-360: Cooperative Occupational Education Programs (2 credits).
