Jim Lehmann has taught 3rd, 4th and 6th grade math prior to completing his doctoral program.

He has presented at numerous workshops including the Washington state ASCD conference, The Excellence in Education Workshop, Learning Space, the Annual Distant Learning and Teaching Conference in Madison, the Northwest Council for Computer Education Conference and the National ASCD conference in San Francisco.

Jim is the president of the non-profit Foundation for Center for Research of Whales which is based in Ecuador. The Foundation's main focus is environmental education and supporting research in marine science. Jim works with Washington State University which offers academic credit to students who work as summer interns at the research center in Ecuador.

Jim has consulted with the Washington State Office of Supervision of Public Instruction working with online teacher professional development. He created an online math program designed for teachers in Washington to better integrate technology into the curriculum. Jim also has been an instructor with the Bill and Melinda Gates Teachers Leadership Project.
