Professional interests focus upon program evaluation/ outcomes research, clinical/ counseling psychology, mental health assessment and treatment, and teaching of psychology.
Most past research/ scholarly efforts focused upon applied research, especially program evaluation, and involved graduate student collaboration/advisement. Examples include a 6-year grant-funded longitudinal program evaluation of the multi-state Summer Technology & Engineering Preview (STEPS) program; institutional research; qualitative and quantitative needs assessments; prevalence studies of cholesterol levels in students; issues in School Psychology; and satisfaction studies of health care patients.
Greatest professional enjoyment in the educational setting comes from collaborative research/ scholarly work with students and seeing students get excited about the real-world relevance of what they are learning. In the applied clinical setting, it occurs when being honored by having a person trust in our therapeutic relationship. In the applied program evaluation setting, it occurs when reporting to clients needed information that is then used in program enhancement.
