This course will examine the philosophical and theoretical basis of accident prevention efforts in various areas of activity. Behavioral tasks are analyzed from the physiological, psychological, sociological and cultural aspects. The course includes an analysis of principles and methods appropriate in identifying, understanding and modifying unsatisfactory attitudes and behavior.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Compare past and contemporary philosophies of human behavior.
- Identify various theories of behavior-related accident causation.
- Identify the psychological, sociological, and physiological aspects that affect behavior.
- Identify methods of modifying unsafe behavior.
- Develop an understanding of the degree to which the normal population exhibits unsatisfactory behavior.
