Policies & Procedures

The following policies and procedures are established so that everyone, including you, can have a safe and pleasant workout experience. No member may use the North Point Fitness Facility until they have completely read and understood this form.


  • The North Point Fitness Center is open 24/7, including weekends and public holidays.
    The Staffed Hours are as follows:
Monday - Thursday
10am - 1pm | 3pm - 10pm
Friday 10am - 1pm | 3pm - 6pm
Saturday 10am - 2pm
Sunday 10am - 2pm | 5pm - 8pm

  • If you have purchased your membership online, your membership can only be activated once you sign the waiver form. So please come down to the fitness center, along with the proof of purchase, during the staffed hours and sign your waiver. Your membership will not be activated until you sign the waiver.

  • Your membership and door access will beactivated on your Stout ID within 48 hours of you signing the waiver form. You can bring your proof of membership and photo ID to access the facility during staffed hours till you get your membership and door access activated.

  • If you are a new student, please make sure your Stout ID card is activated online through campus card office so that we can activate your fitness center membership on your card.

  • Special family membership cards with magnetic stripes will be issued to members with a family membership or sister institution membership to access the 24/7 North Point Fitness Center.

Attire and Shoes

  • Proper workout attire (shorts, t-shirts, sweatpants, sweatshirts) should be worn. Jeans or pants with buttons, hardware (zippers/rivets), & straps are not allowed.
  • No bare feet, sandals, or open toed shoes are allowed on the floor.
  • Shirts must be worn at all times.  Full length sports bras are allowed for women. We have a 2-shoe policy for late fall, winter, and early spring to help keep the facility clean for you and other members.
  • The 2-shoe policy is STRICTLY enforced and violators will have to leave the facility!

Cardio Equipment

  • The cardio equipment is available on a “first come, first serve” basis. You may use any cardio equipment for 30 min or less at one time.
  • Please wipe down the machines after your workout using the spray bottles and paper towels. Do not spray directly on the machine or console.  

Free Weights

  • Use weight collars and pins at all times for your safety and that of others.
  • RETURN and rack all weights (plates, dumbbells) after use. Violators will be asked to leave the facility.
  • Do not drop the weights or lean them up against anything, and use extreme caution in mirrored areas.

General Policies

  • No tobacco, smokeless, or otherwise, allowed
  • No profanity or other abusive language
  • No gum/food/or any beverage but water allowed
  • No children under 18 years old
  • Do not bring in anything valuable (We are not responsible for any lost or stolen items). Lost & found items will be discarded if not claimed within 2 weeks from the day the item was found.
  • We highly recommend a personal towel to wipe off the upholstery after your use.
  • You will not be permitted to use the facility without your ID at any time. Use of your card by anyone other than you will cause it to be confiscated, and appropriate disciplinary action will be enforced.
  • Under no circumstance is any member to train another member for compensation. If it is determined that paid personal training has been conducted on the premises, the trainer and trainee will each lose their membership.


The HFC recommends lifting with a partner. If you do not have a lifting partner, please check our staffed hours to ensure staff assistance. An HFC employee has the right to step in and assist if necessary.

Fitness Services

  • Personal Training: Check brochure by the desk for more info.
  • Group Fitness Classes are only available at the other fitness center (Health & Fitness Center located in the Sport & Fitness Center) until further notice.
  • Machine Orientations: Free for members during staffed hours.

Locker Rooms

  • We do not have locker room facilities at the North Point Fitness center.
  • We do have lockable cubbies to store your valuable items like wallets and ID cards.
  • We also have open cubbies for storing book bags and shoes.


  • In case of an emergency, contact a North Point Fitness Center employee immediately during staffed hours.  The Attendant will help contact the authorities when it is deemed necessary and provide emergency care if needed.
  • During unstaffed hours, you can use the emergency buttons in the fitness center, if deemed necessary.
  • In case of fire or tornado alarm, the fitness staff will direct you to designated safety zones

*Any activity or exercise resulting in pain, faintness, dizziness, or shortness of breath should be stopped immediately.

Violation of Rules

  • If any member violates any of the policies, North Point Fitness Center employees have the right to revoke memberships.
  • A violation may also cause to terminate the violator's membership according to the terms of their Membership Agreement.


During the week, parking permits are required for parking in stout lots.  During weekends - Friday 1pm – Sunday 9 pm – permits are not required.

  • City streets provide both metered and non-metered parking
  • Free spaces are available on 3rd ave, 2nd ave, 2nd st. W & 3rd st. W
  • Metered spaces are located on 2nd St. W.
    • Hours of regulation are posted on city meters
  • All city street spaces restrict parking from 2 AM to 7 AM, every day.
