University of Wisconsin Stout | Wisconsin's Polytechnic University
That’s how employers describe UW-Stout graduates. Our innovative, career-focused degrees combine applied learning and the liberal arts.
In the event of a short term illnesses (less than 3 days) it is best for the student to contact their instructor directly. If the student is hospitalized or experiencing a difficulty that will keep them out of school for 3 days or more, please contact the Dean of Students Office at 715-232-1181 or email: email@example.com. If a parent or family member is concerned about their student’s health or wellness, please contact the Dean of Students Office. A notification of student absences will be issued by the Dean of Students Office. Documentation is usually required. This notification does not change attendance policies put in effect by the instructor and is a courtesy memo only, letting the instructor know the whereabouts of the student. Using this process to determine excused absences and/or work assignments is determined by the instructor. It is the responsibility of the student to initiate contact with their instructor regarding any missed work or exams.
Sometimes a family member might have difficulty contacting a student in a time of crisis, such as a medical emergency or a death in the family. All emergency inquiries during business hours should be directed to Dean of Students Office at 715-232-1181 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org. After hours, contact the University Police Department at: 715-232-2222.
The campus posts any large scale campus emergency on our UW-Stout Alert Messaging System and website. Students will be notified by text message when there is an immediate threat to the health or safety of students.
