Learn How to Apply as a Re-entry Student

"I am 'too' much to go back to school. This is what I told myself for years. I’m 'too'...

  • Busy: I have a full-time job. I’m a wife and mother. I volunteer at my daughters’ schools, at my church, and sing in the community choir. I’m a cook, maid, and chauffeur.
  • Old: My brain can’t handle learning anything that isn’t necessary. If I put more in, I’ll have to take something out, right?
  • Tired: How am I supposed to live my already chaotic life and add one more thing?

Then one day I realized I was right. I am 'too' much. I’m 'too'...

  • Intelligent: Why am I missing opportunities at work when I am just as smart as everyone else, but I’m just missing my degree to back it up?
  • Motivated: I like to win at Monopoly, cribbage – I should be winning at life as well! Going back to school is a win, not only for me but for my employer and my family.
  • Worth It: I deserve to further my education and prove to my daughters that it is never too late to pursue a dream."

Credits for Work Experience

The BS in Management program offers credits for prior work experience through completion of a portfolio. A portfolio cohort experience is offered twice a year for a six-week term utilizing badges to mark progress.  Once seven badges are completed you would earn the number of predetermined credits discussed with the Program Director prior to starting the process. The seven badges areas include: Resume, Professional Goals, Work Skills and Competencies, Educational Accomplishments, Autobiography, Life/Work, and Training Artifacts.

Optional Internships

Within the BS in Management Program is the opportunity to complete an optional internship. The internship process involves a stretch assignment with your current employer that embraces implementation of your learning while advancing your profile in your organization. The internship course is designed for you to scope out a project, work with a mentor in the organization, or dive into a topic and apply what you’ve learned. The final outcome is to develop a video or present your project to a group within your workplace. You could use this experience to strengthen your LinkedIn profile.

National Standardized Testing

College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and DANTES Subject Standardized Test (DSST, or Dantes) test your mastery of college-level material through national standardized tests. You will earn college credit if your test score reflects a solid level of KSAs for the subject chosen.
