Overcoming Negative Attitudes: Effective Strategies to Use with Employers

It’s no secret that the greatest barrier in the workplace for people with disabilities is a negative employer attitude. Some of these attitudes are associated with widely held beliefs about disabilities in general, while other attitudes are associated with a lack of knowledge or understanding about their abilities and limitations. This training was created to shed light on challenges that frequently occur between employers and rehabilitation professionals as well as discuss potential solutions. 

Meet the presenter:

Dr. McNeil is the Executive Director; Assistant Professor and Director of the Counseling Program at Carolina University. Dr. McNeil is the founder and executive director of Dr. James F. McNeil Vocational Consulting Services. He has over 10 years of experience in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, disability management, and leave management. Dr. McNeil has worked with government agencies, colleges and universities, and Fortune 500 companies, including Lowe's, Prudential, and Amazon. 
Dr. McNeil is also a national certified counselor and certified rehabilitation counselor. In 2021, he was elected to serve as a Board of Director for the CRCC. Dr. McNeil holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision, master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, and a bachelor's degree in Education.
