2019 National Rural Institute:

Sunday, June 23- Thursday, June 27, 2019

  • The 2019 Call for Proposals Will Open Summer 2019
  • 2019 Deadline: October 1
  • Session status (Accept, Conditional Accept or Decline) emails will be sent November/December.

Submission Guidelines

All submissions, including repeating sessions from prior years, must be submitted through the online submission system. Please be prepared to submit the following information:

Presentation Title

Title should be a maximum of 70 characters.

Brief Presentation Description

Brief descriptions should not exceed 1500 characters.

This description will be used for the website, printed program and any promotional materials.

Expanded Presentation Abstract

A longer proposal/abstract in addition to the abbreviated description will be required. 

Extended Abstracts should contain learning goals and objectives and should reflect the depth necessary for the selected session length. (uploaded document)

Session Type

Track - Tracks are taught daily Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (No tracks on Sunday or Thursday) for a total of 11.5 hours of concentrated training and/or instruction.

Special Topic Single Session - Special Topics are taught daily Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. (No Special Topics or Series on Sunday or Monday). Single Session total 1.5 hours of training and/or instruction.

Special Topic Session Series - Special Topics Series are Sessions are taught daily, 1.5 hours each day, Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday. (No Special Topics or Series on Sunday or Monday) for a total of 4.5 hours of training and/or instruction.

Other Session Type i.e. Preconference, Post Conference, Keynote

Session Special Requests and AV Needs

Participants will need a writing surface. 

Participants will need space for movement. 

This session involves loud music or other sounds. 

House Equipment/AV: PC Computer, Projector, Screen, Audio Capabilities, Wireless Internet Access.

I plan to use my own computer for my presentation. 

A PowerPoint or similar presentation will be used. 

A document camera is needed. 

A whiteboard is needed. 

A flipchart with markers is needed.

Please note: Compensation amounts are per session. Sessions with multiple presenters will receive a payment split between presenters unless directed otherwise.

  • Brief Narrative Biography. Should not exceed 1000 characters. Please note: This will be used for the website, printed program and any promotional materials.

  • Current photo image. Please note: This will be used for the website, printed program and any promotional materials. (This item is optional at the time of proposal submission but will be required if the session is selected.)
  • Current W-9 form (This item is optional at the time of proposal submission but will be required if the session is selected.)

Compensation and Teaching Schedules

Compensation

  • TRACK Session: 11.5 hours taught over 3 days  in 1.5 hr–2 hr blocks, MON and TUES and WED
  • $2000 flat rate (no travel reimbursement/stipend)
  • Includes complimentary conference registration and on-campus room and board, with single room option.

Special Topic Single

 Compensation

  • SPECIAL TOPIC SINGLE SESSION: 1.5 hours taught within one day - TUES or WED or THURS No Special Topic sessions Sunday or Monday
  • $100 honorarium payment
  • Those who are presenting 1 or 2 Special Topic Single Sessions and plan to attend the rest of the conference are eligible to apply for scholarships. If a scholarship is awarded, an honorarium will not be paid.

Special Topic Series

Compensation

  • SPECIAL TOPIC SERIES: 1.5 hours taught each day - TUES and WED and THURS
  • No Special Topic sessions Sunday or Monday
  • $300 honorarium payment
  • Those leading a Special Topic Series (3 sessions only) will have included as a part of their compensation package complimentary conference registration and on-campus room and board, with single room option.
  • Please note: Special Topic Series sessions will be presented as three, 1.5 hour blocks for a total of 4.5 hours of instruction. Attendees may register for all or part of the series and as such each portion of the series should have a separate description that specifies the topics addressed within that session portion.
