The exhibit “Fogstand &&&&&&” opening Sept. 18 at Furlong Gallery will feature six artists from Asia.

Works by six artists from Asia will be featured in the first art exhibit of the 2017-18 academic year at UW-Stout’s Furlong Gallery.

The exhibit, “Fogstand &&&&&&,” will include art by Choon-Lin Joo, of Singapore; En-Man Chang, of Taiwan; Jo-Mei Lee, of Taiwan; Jin-Da Lin, of Taiwan; Kai-Feng Chun, of Singapore; and Song-Yun Kim, of South Korea.

The exhibit opens Monday, Sept. 18, and runs through Saturday, Oct. 28. An opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21.

The artists represent Fogstand Gallery & Studio, a nonprofit art space and creative education center in Jia-Li village, part of Hualien, Taiwan. Fogstand’s primary focus is bringing contemporary creative practices into contact with local indigenous communities.

Fogstand owner Darren Tesar and his wife, Wenli, will represent the artists at the opening reception. They teach in UW-Stout’s School of Art and Design. At a later date, they may give an artist talk.
