Two faculty members have been selected to receive professorships at University of Wisconsin-Stout.
The professorships provide stipends that allow faculty to pursue professional development in scholarly or academic areas aligning with the mission of the university. Use of the stipends also must meet state guidelines.
Funding for the professorships are through the Stout University Foundation and have been approved by the UW System.
The winners will be recognized Monday, Aug. 25, to begin the 2014-15 academic year.
Diane Christie has been named the Dahlgren Professor for one year, from July 1 through June 30, 2015. She will receive $8,500.
Christie is a math professor and director of the game design and development program, part of the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
The award is named after alumni Reinhold and Borghild Eng Dahlgren, husband and wife and 1917 and 1918 graduates, respectively, who left their estate to the university.
Amanda Barnett will be the university's Maybelle Ranney Price Professor from July 1 through June 30, 2015. She will receive $1,680.
Barnett is an assistant professor and director of the undergraduate program in human development and family studies, part of the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences.
The professorship is in honor of Price, a 1945 UW-Stout graduate.
