Back to Broadway: Dance Ensemble shows this weekend

April 30, 2012

One of the largest student clubs at UW-Stout will put on its spring show Friday and Saturday. Dance Ensemble presents “Back to Broadway” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday in Harvey Hall Theatre.

The club has between 90 and 95 dancers, according to Elizabeth Kussmann, club president. All members will dance the show’s four opening numbers and closing number. Those five dances will be set to songs from popular Broadway shows, such as “Grease,” “Rent” and “Chicago.”

Smaller groups will dance to 15 other numbers, with styles that include hip hop, jazz, ballet, tap and swing. All dances also are being choreographed by club members.

“We hope people come out to see all the great things we’ve been doing. We love to dance and want to share that with the campus and community,” Kussmann said.
