UW-Stout goes mobile

Accessing information about the University of Wisconsin-Stout on smart phones and iPads just became easier.

The university announced Thursday that mobile versions of the university website are now available. Users who navigate to www.uwstout.edu via smart phone or iPad automatically will be redirected to the mobile version that is appropriate for the device they are using.

The mobile site includes a link to the full version of the university site, as well as these links:

•  Academic Calendar
•  Athletics mobile site
•  Campus Maps (touch-screen devices only)
•  Social Media
•  People (searchable directory)
•  Events
•  Library mobile site

•  Emergency numbers

There are two mobile versions: one for iPhone, iPad, Android and other touch-screen devices, and one for Blackberry and other non-touch-screen devices. Users will see the appropriate version for their device.

“The mobile versions of our website will allow our audiences to connect with UW-Stout anywhere in the world,” said Maureen Carlson, director of Integrated Marketing and chair of the Website Redesign Committee, who led the recent redesign of the UW-Stout website and the development of the mobile sites.Mobile site on Blackberry

“Students, faculty and staff increasingly depend on their smart phones and iPads for information,” Carlson said. “These mobile sites will offer that information in an easy-to-use format.”
