Semester to kick off with chancellor welcome, development programs

Second-semester classes begin Monday, Jan. 23.

January Professional Development kicks off with a welcome and remarks from Chancellor Charles W. Sorensen at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in room 184 of Micheels Hall. Sorensen, in his 24th year, is the longest-serving chancellor in UW-Stout’s history.

Following Sorensen will be comments from Provost Julie Furst-Bowe and an update on the fall faculty-staff engagement sessions. The week’s keynote address, “Learning Experience Design: Learning Without Limits,” from Clark Quinn, executive director of Quinnovation, is from 9:30-10:30 a.m., also in 184 Micheels Hall.

Other programs during the week include: trends in real estate, Doug Kennedy, associate professor in the School of Hospitality Leadership; using ebooks, Cory Mitchell and Bob Butterfield, University Library; and promoting undergraduate research on campus, featuring six faculty members.
