Packaging student receives major scholarship from Prent

December 19, 2011

A junior packaging major at UW-Stout recently received a scholarship valued at nearly $16,000 and an internship from a Wisconsin-based company.

Brock Miller, of Lodi, will have his junior and senior years of tuition paid for by Prent, of Janesville, a global leader of custom thermoform packaging for the medical industry. Miller also joined Prent’s Product Development Co-op Training Program this semester.

“This means a great deal to me. It takes a huge financial burden off of me and enables me to focus more on my education, as well as other learning opportunities,” Miller said.

The CEO and president of Prent is Joseph T. Pregont, who graduated from UW-Stout in 1981. Since 1990, Prent has awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships to college and high school students.

“It’s critical we support students and academic centers of excellence to ensure the best and brightest consider packaging as a career path,” Pregont said.

Prent has more than 1,000 employees in Wisconsin, Arizona, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Malaysia and Shanghai.

UW-Stout has one of the oldest packaging programs in the nation, with a long track record of nearly 100 percent job placement of its graduates. For more information, go to http://www.uwstout.edu/programs/bsp.
