RockFest climbing competition adds Reel Rock Film Tour

Stout Adventures is taking the RockFest climbing competition to new heights this year with a special guest and event.

The 12th annual tournament is scheduled Saturday, March 2, on the 30-foot indoor climbing walls in the Sports and Fitness Center at University of Wisconsin-Stout. Registration for competitors is full.

Stout Adventures staff member Brent Haugle works at the climbing walls.Competition begins at 10:30 a.m. The finals, featuring the top three competitors in intermediate and advanced divisions, begin at 4:30 p.m.

After the competition, at 7 p.m., the international Reel Rock Film Tour will be shown in room 210 of the Applied Arts Building. Professional climber Kevin Jorgeson of California will speak prior to the screening of the latest adventure and rock climbing films.

Jorgeson also is scheduled to attend RockFest. His appearance is sponsored by the Stout Association of Outdoor Recreation Education.

The Reel Rock Film Tour is free and open to the public, as is RockFest for spectators. For more information click here.

RockFest is the third stop in the Wisconsin Indoor Climbing Series. Previous events have been held at UW-Superior and UW-Oshkosh. Other remaining events are April 6 at UW-La Crosse and April 14 at UW-Stevens Point. The top team, male and female are crowned, based on points, when the series ends.
